Do 'time' in the Prison & Police Museum, try out the stocks and pillory; sit in the original victorian cells, experience the treadmill, crank and shot drill; see a 'Doctor Who' style police box and gain valuable insight into policing history.
People have been coming to worship and pray at Ripon for more than 1,350 years. The Cathedral building itself is part of this continuing act of worship, begun in the 7th century when Saint Wilfrid built one of England’s first stone churches on this site, and still renewed every day. Within the nave and choir, you can see the evidence of 800 years in which master craftsmen have expressed their faith in wood and stone.
For more than 300 years Ripon has hosted some of the most exciting, most prestigious
and most enjoyable racing in the country. The forthcoming season promises to be

The House also boasts a rather unusual collection of chamber pots!
For an interesting day out visit Aldborough Roman site among the northern most urban centres in the Roman Empire. One corner of these Yorkshire defences is laid out amid a Victorian arboretum, and two mosaic pavements can be viewed in their original positions. The site’s fascinating museum has an outstanding collection of Roman finds.
