Eating at El Piano is great when many dishes are served and a wide selection enjoyed. For the single diner, however, there is CHEAP CHOW, a steal at £6.95. Starters at £3.95 are also great value. Being among the oldest beer and wine dispensing cellars in York and one of the few remaining independent inns, Judges Cellar Bar has developed a reputation for its hearty British dishes alongside international cuisine, served in comfortable surroundings, coupled with handpicked real ales and fine wines. Housed in various nooks and crannies of the old vaulted cellars, with our bustling outdoor terrace to the front and hidden roof terrace to the rear, you can be assured of a warm friendly welcome and thoughtful service.  We offer a mix of delicious hearty dishes with lighter lunch options throughout the day.

One of the best restaurants in York, Melton's can be found in all the good food guides and cooks fresh local produce to order.  Melton's is found in the AA Guide, the 'Which?' Good Food Guide as well as other guides including Harden's, and the Egon Ronay Guide.  We've also been mentioned in the BBC's Olive magazine as having "The Best Home Cooking" in their 'foodie traveler' section, and Will Hide of the Guardian said his beef with dauphinois potatoes "...was done to perfection".

We are a World Beer Freehouse located in the heart of historic York. Our home is a timber framed and dating back to 1190, a fantastic setting for a cold beer, glass of wine, or a hot coffee!  We offer a collection of the finest cask beers from the UK, and draught and bottled beers from around the world.  Our draught beer selection offers 17 fresh beers comprising 3 cask ales and 14 other exceptional draught products including 2 Weisse beers, and the only unfiltered Czech pilsner currently available in the UK.

Understandably one of York’s most talked about eateries, serving award winning food in a relaxed dining atmosphere. Highly commended for fresh fish dishes, home made desserts and a seemingly endless selection of fine wines.  At the turn of the century our cellar was a brothel of some repute. In fact if you wander downstairs, you will see photographs of some of the girls, who perhaps, plied their wares. We also serve romantic dinners in the private vaulted booths (or beds), which are situated in the opulent and atmospheric dining area.

The cosy Piano Bar overlooking the hotel's front lawn makes a perfect setting for that pre-dinner drink or to meet with friends. Contemporary style meets with elegant high ceilings and impressive original features to tempt you to linger and enjoy perhaps just one more of your favourite tipple.  The fine dining restaurant's décor is inspirational, the original magnificent architecture enhanced by the discerningly modern interior.  Comfy chairs, candlelight, the soft chords of the baby grand piano being played and above all attentive service combine to provide the perfect setting to savour the exquisite fine dining cuisine.

Enjoy one of our traditional sandwiches, sizzling fajitas or a juicy steak with a nice glass of chilled wine.  Freshly made food served from 8.00am till 9.30pm every day.  Homemade Sunday Roasts served every Sunday from 12pm.  Monday, Monday £5 meal deal with a bottled beer or glass or wine.  We have two heated courtyards, continental terrace bar, cosy lounge and our top floor restaurant overlooking Grape Lane.
